A couple of Field Trips

June been a busy month for Field Trips. Kaatlin had one to the Capitol building and Nathanael had on the Pointe Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. I was able to chaperone for both with the help of my sis Debbie and Grandma and Grandpa Cheney to watch the other kiddos. I think we all had a great time.
It was a beautiful day at the Capitol Building in Olympia, it was all sunny and wonderful. Kaatlin was really happy to have me go, that always makes it worth it. Kaatlin's class has been learning about Washington State so she was excited to go. Most of the guided tour was the usual but at the end went to the Court of Appeals, I think, and the guide told us about the room and building. But then she let the kids role play a court case that happened in Yelm a long time ago. It was really neat to see the kids get up as lawyers, Judges, bailiff and court announcer and go through procedures of the court room, using the specific language of the court. The kids really enjoyed it. Then we had lunch in the sun by the fountain before heading back to school.
For Nathanael's trip it was threatening to rain but held off for us. All the kids in his class wore shirts they had painted with animals, so cute. We only had Nathanael and his friend Siris in our group and they were great. They both really wanted to see the Sharks, the monkeys and snakes(can we all say little boys). The shark and the goats were Nathanael's favorites. We also got to see a neat show in the outdoor theater with a beautiful bald eagle at the end, owls and other bigger birds flying overhead and rats running by. Both the boys got a chance to pet the rat and also touch some slimy sea life. We had a fun time.

How nice that you got to be a chaperone for both! You are brave! That will be a neat memory for the kids.

That is so neat that you got to be a chaperone for both Kaatlin and Nathanael's field trips. It sounds like you guys had an amazing time. That is such a wonderful memory that they will keep with them for the rest of their lives. I still remember when my Dad chaperoned for my field trip to the Space Needle, and I treasure those memories.

Sounds like you had so much fun! I love field trips and these ones sound pretty unique, with the kids acting out the court case and the show with the eagles, owls, and rats! He got to pet the rats? I bet Nathanael loved that!
