Mandy's Birthday.

For my birthday this year my mom took me to go see West Side Story @ the 5th Ave Theater in Seattle. It was a lot of fun. I've always been a big fan of musicals. People singing and dancing around in real life would be hilarious but on the stage it is art, right? I've watched lots of musicals on video but never seen a professional performance, it was great. My mom had mentioned doing it a long time ago when she had seen that it was coming to town I was really excited but was suspicious that we would really be able to go, you know things do come up.
Debbie and Mom took me out for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then we went to the play. The theater is beautiful, it has an Chinese theme I think with lots of carvings and Asian style chandeliers one is held up by a dragon, it is a gorgeous building to look at all by itself. It was neat to go in and see so many different people from all walks of life in attendance. From people wearing jeans and t-shirts to suits and beautiful dresses. It was nice not to feel under dressed no matter what I was wearing, especially now with my wardrobe so limited.
It is the anniversary of West Side Story so they brought back the original choreography, they did such a nice job. The set was pretty simple and didn't take much to switch from on scene to another. The singing was wonderful "Tony" had an incredible voice as well as the actresses who played Annetta and Maria. My favorite character have always been Tony and Annetta, my opinion hasn't changed. Well we all had a great time and I walked away satisfied wiping tears from my eyes so you know it was a success.
Chris and the kids made lots of cards and a frame, with help from Grandma Cheney. And Grandma and Grandpa Cheney were great to watch Laurel and Seth on my actually birthday so Nathanael and I could go on a kindergarten field trip together. Chris brought home a ice cream cake and let me get my haircut without a fuss, so I felt well taken care of.
